Descripción

In this course, high performance physical development coach, Barry Shillabeer will take you step by step through the training of youth athletes transitioning to high performance. Barry has worked with Olympic medallists and world record holders in swimming, as well as a host of international athletes from a range of sports. He now specialises in youth development as the Head of Performance at Aspire Academy in Qatar. Beginning with learning how to teach the basic postures and movement patterns that underpin strength training, you'll progress through a range of training methodologies to learn how to develop strength and power in a safe and structured way. Throughout the course, we'll also look at some of the key exercises used by physical development coaches, providing adaptations for higher and lower ability athletes, as considering their age and maturation status. We'll provide guidelines for selecting sets and repetitions that will create the stimulus we need to improve our targeted qualities, as well as looking at a range of training modalities to create the same stimulus, allowing us to easily adapt our training to the athletes we're working with. By the end of the course, you should understand how to plan, teach and monitor strength, power and plyometrics with your athletes and set them on the pathway to success. Let's get started!
